Liv Tyler is reportedly set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming film Captain America: New World Order, reprising her role as scientist Betty Ross from 2008's the Incredible Hulk. The Hollywood Reporter was first to report.
Tyler's character Ross is the daughter of General Thaddeus «Thunderbolt» Ross, who was previously portrayed by the late William Hurt and will now be played by Harrison Ford in the new film. Tyler's character has not been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since, but she will now join other actors from the Incredible Hulk who have appeared in other projects. Carl Lumbly will return as the original super-soldier Isaiah Bradley, Danny Ramirez will return as Joaquin Torres, and Tim Blake Nelson will also be returning as Samuel Sterns for Captain America 4.
Anthony Mackie will lead the cast as Sam Wilson, who is taking on the mantle of Captain America for the first time in the film. Shira Haas will also join the cast as a newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film, directed by Julius Onah, is currently shooting in Atlanta, and the script was written by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. Captain America: New World Order will be the first in the franchise led by Mackie, who is taking the title role over from Chris Evans.
Tyler is best known for her roles in Armageddon, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and HBO's The Leftovers, and recently appeared in the Fox drama 9-1-1: Lone Star. Captain America 4 is set to be released on May 3, 2024.
