In commemoration of their renewed partnership with Blizzard Entertainment, NetEase has revealed their new Gorehowl statue, engraved with messages from returning players and now called the Lightforged Gorehowl!
Said to be 15 meters (approx 49 feet) in length, the World of Warcraft Lightforged Gorehowl sculpture will be on display from July 4th to July 7th, at the Lujiazui Waterfront Park in Shanghai from 10:00 to 22:00 each day.
The new Lightforged Gorehowl is currently on display at the Lujiazui Waterfront Park in Shanghai.
According to the official announcement by WoW China, players will not only be able to get up close and personal with the Lightforged Gorehowl, but they will also be able to read the player messages engraved on the axe. Of the 1.74 million messages received from returning players, the exact number of engravings has not been cited, though players whose messages were selected will be notified of the exact location where theirs has been engraved.
There will be a photo-taking «quest» at the event site, with those who complete it receiving a commemorative inflatable Gorehowl, limited to 5,000 per day.
Anyone in China want to get me one?
Like the original axe built to commemorate the release of Warlords of Draenor, the Lightforged Gorehowl will be moved to the NetEase park after its public exhibition and most likely displayed lengthwise in similar fashion.
Sadly, the original axe was torn down after NetEase's previous split from Blizzard Entertainment.
Although called the «Lightforged Gorehowl,» it's unclear whether Blizzard China really intended a loreful connection to the Lightbound army of draenei, Mag'har orcs, and ogres aligned under High Exarch Yrel and the Naaru in the alternate Draenor timeline.
