There’s a fresh trailer for Zombie Army VR, teasing the game’s undead sniping antics ahead of a launch for PSVR 2, Meta Quest 2, 3 and Pro, and PC VR via Steam later this year.
You’ll once again join the Deadhunters – not the Dadhunters, as I nearly just typed – on a quest to free Europe from the zombie apocalypse that was triggered in the closing stages of World War 2. While we’ve defeated Zombie Hitler a few times now in the main series, this game will take place alongside those events, as the Deadhunters head to the city of Nuremberg to help Captain Hermann Wolff, the Deadhunters’ leader, find his family.
Just as with the other Zombie Army games, co-op is a key component of Zombie Army VR. You can play alone, but it’s surely going to be better played in co-op with support for two players. VR will have you physically aiming your rifle, enable you to dual-wield side arm with submachine gun, physically reload weapons, and bash zombies with melee attacks. You’ll have to face off against the usual menagerie of undead, including Armoured Giants, Suiciders, Sniper Zombies, and more.
This isn’t the first time that Rebellion has adapted their franchises to VR, with 2016s Battlezone seeing them right on the bleeding edge with an early VR game, and then a partnership with Just Add Water for Sniper Elite VR in 2021, and a Meta Quest exclusive sequel last year. Zombie Army VR sees Rebellion partner with XR Games, who previously worked on Jurassic World Aftermath and Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded. So there’s a good bit of VR gaming pedigree here that should get gamers itching for another VR shooter excited.
