Zack Snyder has responded to a Justice League parody video being used to promote the upcoming season of The Boys. The series, which is based on the comic series of the same name, began airing on Prime Video in 2019 and is preparing to drop season 3 on the streaming platform on June 3, 2022. The Boys, which is in and of itself a parody of the types of superheroes that are usually given the spotlight in comic book media, has its own meta parody film in the fiction of the show. In the series, The Boys' rival supervillain group The Seven has starred in a movie titled Dawn of the Seven.
Dawn of the Seven features a combination of Marvel and DC tropes and was directed by fictional filmmaker Adam Bourke (played by Big Little Lies actor P.J. Byrne), who was then replaced by a writer named simply Joss. This is obviously a nod to Joss Whedon stepping in to replace Zack Snyder when he had to step down from 2017's Justice League. Earlier today, the official The Boys Twitter account propelled this compromised in-universe project to its natural conclusion by releasing a faux trailer for the Bourke cut of Dawn of the Seven. The trailer and the post are both mimicking the fan campaign that got HBO Max to fund Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Less than two hours after this video was posted, Zack Snyder took notice. On his official Twitter account, he responded to the fake trailer, which is really just promoting the date of The Boys' season 3 premiere. Snyder quote tweeted the video with a joking caption that reads "Congratulations to Director Bourke. Excited to see your vision realized." Check out his Tweet below:
