Today, Falcom and NIS America unveiled the Western release date for Ys X: Nordics. The single player action RPG will be available starting October 25 for PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
Originally announced in December 2022, the game launched in Japan on September 28, 2023, albeit only for consoles. A Windows PC port debuted in Asian markets on March 14, 2024.
Chronologically, Ys X: Nordics takes place after the first two entries in the franchise. There are also some major gameplay changes, as the game only features two playable characters rather than the usual party. New features include sailing and ship combat.
Here's the full Ys X: Nordics overview provided by the developers:
The young red-haired adventurer Adol Christin and the proud pirate Karja Balta find themselves bound by fate - and the mysterious power of Mana. As they search for a way to undo the mystical bonds that bind them, they soon find themselves caught in a conflict between two factions: the seafaring warriors known as the Normans and the enigmatic and seemingly immortal Griegr. To save the people of Obelia Gulf, Adol and Karja must navigate the depths of their unexpected bond and the power it grants them.
