Although has a wide variety of devastating Stratagems for players to call down on their enemies (or their fellow Helldivers), one tool in particular stands out, especially against the more heavily-armored Automaton faction. As gets further from its somewhat troubled, but wildly successful initial release, players have started to pin down a sort of meta for the game, finding which weapons, Stratagems, and armor are the most effective for any given situation. Even among the game's best tools, however, one specific Stratagem stands out, especially at higher difficulties.
As players advance through the nine different difficulties that has to offer, armored enemies start to become a bigger and bigger problem, as the game will start to spawn heavily armored units, like Chargers or Hulks, in greater numbers, and even some previously unarmored units, like Spewers, may gain armor at the highest difficulty levels. As starts to throw Automaton Tanks, Bile Titans, and potentially groups of multiple Chargers or Hulks at the squad, it becomes essentially important for players to have easy methods of armor penetration at their disposal.
Among the many Stratagems available, however, one in particular stands out — the Railgun. Especially against the more heavily armored Automaton faction, the Railgun can be a devastatingly effective tool, and one of, if not the best support weapon in the game, capable of killing even Hulks with a single well-aimed shot to the front viewport. Though it can be potentially cumbersome or even dangerous to use, with its single-shot reload and unsafe setting which can kill players for holding the charge for too long, the Railgun is easily capable of dealing with every enemy in the game.
