Yellowstone star Kelly Reilly recently explained the new dynamic between Beth and Jamie Dutton in season 5. Reilly plays Beth in the western drama, the loyal yet emotionally unstable daughter of John Dutton (Kevin Costner), the patriarch of the family who owns the largest contiguous ranch in Montana. With the ranch continuously threatened by outside forces, as well as his family being slowly torn apart from within, John struggles to hold on to the ownership of the ranch as he strives to keep them together.
Throughout Yellowstone season 1 to 4, Beth has had a tenuous relationship with her brother Jamie (Wes Bentley). It was revealed in previous episodes that the two were both witness to their mother's fatal accident. The event initially bonded Beth and her brother to the extent that she trusted Jamie to assist her with getting an abortion. However, after Jamie withheld from Beth that she would be unable to have children as a result of the operation, the two have been at odds ever since. Following the revelation that Jamie's biological father, Garrett Randall (Will Patton), was behind the assassination attempt against the Duttons, any residual trust from Beth in her brother was lost. Recent Yellowstone episodes saw Beth coerce Jamie to kill Garrett while holding incriminating evidence against him.
