Christina Ricci says will be “brutal” and “more shocking” than previous seasons.
While production on the third outing of Showtime’s Yellowjackets was delayed because of the 2023 strikes, filming for the new season officially began in Vancouver in May 2024.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Ricci confirmed that a few episodes of Yellowjackets Season 3 have already been filmed.
“This season is going to be even more shocking and surprising than the previous seasons,” Ricci said. “It’s definitely going to be brutal. But they also put a lot of comedy into it. So I think it’s just going to be… extremely Yellowjackets-y.”
Plot details for Yellowjackets Season 3 remain under wraps at this time. Ricci isn’t even totally sure what will happen to her character, Misty Quigley, in the third season, as she says the cast isn’t “always privy to that stuff.” She continued, “We tend to find out just a bit later than I think people would imagine. But it’s the nature of TV, and it’s just the nature of this show in particular. They don’t tell us anything about storylines, and I don’t even want to ask, because it puts them in a weird position. So I never ask what’s coming.”
Regarding Juliette Lewis’ character’s death during the Yellowjackets Season 2 finale, Ricci noted that filming the new season is “sad without Juliette.”
When asked if she thinks Misty will be able to forgive herself for Natalie’s death, Ricci answered, “I do. We’ve seen that she’s done it before,” she says. “She forgave herself for what she did to her friends in the wilderness, and I think she is someone who does get past things because she is a survivor.”
Yellowjackets Season 3 is expected to premiere in 2025.
