Yakuza Fans Think Like A Dragon 8 Takes Place In Hawaii
There were a lot of very welcome surprises shown off between Summer Game Fest, the Xbox Showcase, and everything in between. However, one of the biggest surprises of the entire weekend was the first proper trailer for Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Taking Ichiban Kasuga stateside, Yakuza fans already think they've figured out roughly where in the US the protagonist has washed up.
The trailer shows Ichiban waking up on a beach completely naked, thank you Ryu Ra Gotoku. The revelation Ichiban has washed up in America is confirmed when the shocked onlookers around him speak for the first time. As for where exactly in the states he might be, JudgementKazzer has done some impressive investigative work that points to Ichiban being in Hawaii.

“After some research, I'm about 96 percent sure that it is set on the island of O'ahu in Hawaii, more specifically on Waikiki beach in Honolulu,” JudgementKazzer tweeted. That's right, not only have they narrowed it down to Hawaii, but they're also fairly certain they've figured out the exact beach Ichiban is on as hermit crabs and sun tan lotion bottles strategically preserve his modesty.
Just in case you aren't intricately familiar with the details and backdrop of Hawaii's Waikiki Beach, JudgementRazzer has included a comparison photo in their tweet. As you can see, the buildings on the left are very similar to the ones that can be found on the real version of the beach, and the collection of buildings off to the right also backs the claim. If that isn't where Ichiban is, then you'd have to imagine the beach he's trudging in the buff is at least based on the real one in the image above.
