The Xiaomi 12 series is expected to launch soon in India and we could be looking at a couple of new models. However, there is one more model that is yet to hit the global markets. It is called the Xiaomi 12 Lite and while we have heard about it before, we now have a leak that reveals almost all the specs as well as the design. And it seems that the Lite version is in fact bigger than the standard Xiaomi 12. It might even retain the same looks and design.
The information comes via tipster Yogesh Brar, who says the Xiaomi 12 Lite isn’t planned for India at the moment. However, based on Xiaomi’s current launch records, it seems we may see the Xiaomi 12 Lite launch in India later in the year as Xiaomi’s next-gen offering for the sub- ₹30,000 smartphone space. The leak suggest a major redesign but all the stuff inside remains largely unchanged.
It is said that Xiaomi won’t be considering upgrading the chipset in the new model. Hence, the Xiaomi 12 Lite could feature the same Snapdragon 778G chipset, which will accompanied by up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Ever the rear camera could remain largely unchanged, having the familiar 64MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. The 16MP camera stays at the front for selfies and video calls.
The rest of the specs and features are notable upgrades, however. The Xiaomi 12 Lite is said to have a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and curved edges on the side. The phone will get a bigger 4500mAh battery and will no get the much faster 67W wired charging solution. The phone will also get an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is an upgrade from the power-key mounted version. Xiaomi is likely to offer it with MIUI 13 based on Android 12.
