It seems as if Discord is taking one more step to solidify its platform as “for the gamers,” thanks to Xbox’s September update, which allows players to stream their favorite games to their friends on Discord. In order to stream from your Xbox to Discord, you’ll need to ensure that your accounts are linked. If they are, then you can not only stream via Discord, but you can join voice channels directly from your console.
In addition, the most recent update brings with it the inclusion of Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), a feature that can give players “a smooth, artifact-free experience” while they play their favorite titles, according to the official blog post detailing the September update. It’s also easier to use the rewards you’ve accumulated. If you’re looking for your rewards post-update, press the Xbox button on your controller, select Profile & System, navigate to your profile, and select My Rewards.
The update also brings with it the ability to request a spot in a friend’s party, the option to report voice incidents that might be offensive to some, a new way to receive wishlist notifications, a new way to pair your controller to your console without having to get up, and an update to the Xbox app on PC.
Here’s how to use Discord on your Xbox console:
You’re good to go and will be able to view voice channels as part of the UI.
