Xbox Business update is coming on Thursday
Microsoft has confirmed that the anticipated Xbox Business update will be coming on Thursday, and will be presented through the Official Xbox Podcast. Phil Spencer, Sarah Bond, and Matt Booty will be letting everyone know what the future of the Xbox brand is. The podcast will be available to listen to at 12PM PT/ 3PM ET/ 8PM GMT.
Rumours grew of Starfield, Indiana Jones & more Xbox games coming to PS5, last week and was quickly followed up by a confirmation from Phil Spencer that an update would be given this week. Today, Starfield PS5 rumours were walked back and Phil Spencer gave reassurance to Xbox employees. Those reassurances included the fact that Microsoft would not be exiting the console hardware business, something that has been speculated about.
The most likely situation is that Microsoft will look to selectively port and release their games on other platforms, as they have done in rare instances in the past – Ori and the Blind Forest on Switch, for example. An acclaimed but smaller budget game like Hi-Fi Rush would seem perfect for this kind of treatment, while Activision Blizzard’s work is best used at scale with Call of Duty, Overwatch, Diablo and others, and then they can keep their core franchises and most important games as Xbox and PC exclusives. A core franchise like Halo and now Starfield.
