X-Men's Cyclops actor James Marsden responded to casting rumors for the MCU's latest highly-anticipated entry, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marsden originally played Cyclops in the Bryan Singer-directedX-Men film that kicked off Fox's Marvel franchise 22 years ago. Though Cyclops was killed off in X-Men: The Last Stand, through the use of time travel, the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past retroactively changed the events of the previous films, creating a timeline where Cyclops is still alive.
Due to the multiverse-nature of the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel, there has been a high-level of speculation surrounding cameos within the film. Theories and rumors have flooded social media, especially following the reveal of Patrick Stewart's as Professor X in Doctor Strange 2. Many have wondered if mutants will finally make an official appearance in the MCU and if there will be any additional cameos by Fox's Marvel superheroes.

In a recent interview with Black Girl Nerds, James Marsden reveals his role, or lack thereof, in Doctor Strange 2. During his publicity tour for his upcoming video game film, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Marsden was asked a question referencing his background as the X-Men superhero Cyclops. Sonic star Ben Schwartz playfully jokes with Marsden about the multiverse to which Marsden replies gleefully about bringing the character back 22 years later.
