The fictional Marvel Comics alloy called adamantium is a nigh-indestructible metal that is closely associated with the X-Men hero, Wolverine, and in a pitch for a dark future storyline, both he and Colossus recieve adamantium upgrades that puts their current selves to shame!
As seen in 2001’s X-Men: Millennial Visions #2, this issue acts as a sort of “What If?” special that gives fans short story ideas and pieces of art that never came to be in Marvel’s «main» X-Men timeline. And in the tale titled “X-Men: Reborn” by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver, these creators bring to life a future where thesetwo iconic X-Men heroes get the upgrades they rightly deserve.

As described on the text page, this dark timeline takes place in the then-future of 2006 when, after capturing and abusing Professor X’s mental powers, the X-Men villain of Apocalypse succeeds in activating the latent abilities of over 200,000 mutants across the globe, killing Xavier in the process. Through little blurbs given about the remaining X-Men and how they’ve lived since the death of their mentor, readers are told that both Wolverine and Colossus have succumbed to similar fates related to the infamous Weapon X program.
Discovered by Wolverine while being held captive by Weapon X, it’s said that thanks to Weapon X’s meddling, Colossus is now “permanently comprised of solid adamantium.” Meanwhile, after being re-captured by Weapon X himself, Wolverine spent three years being experimented on, resulting in his teeth and muscles becoming “laced with adamantium.” And by upgrading Wolverine and Colossus’ already tough-as-nails natures, Weapon X inadvertently created two of the most
