A dedicated The Witcher 3 fan has finally uncovered a hidden secret surrounding one of the game’s DLC side quests after speeding the internal clock ahead seven years. The third installment of CD Projekt Red’s critically acclaimed medieval RPG series has plenty of secret details and Easter Eggs hidden within its massive game world, that players still uncovering even 6 years later. From secret Doctor Who references in The Witcher 3 to beastly Chorts that punish players for poaching cattle in White Orchard farmland, there seems to be no limit to what Geralt can chance across in his travels.
Said travels eventually lead Geralt to meet up with Vivienne de Tabris, a lady-in-waiting who is suffering from a strange magical curse in a side quest titled “The Warble of a Smitten Knight”. This quest is a part of The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine DLC and tasks Geralt with trying to cure this affliction — which is causing Vivienne to slowly transform into a bird-like creature resembling an oriole. Geralt has seen this curse before in his many travels during the Witcher games, so he knows of a few ways to undo it — but he warns Vivenne that curing it could lead to her death seven years later. Players can choose to perform the ritual needed to lift the curse regardless, and Vivienne eventually departs to live out her remaining days in peace by traveling the world.
