The upcoming launch of the Apple iPhone 14 has become a hot topic of discussion for tech enthusiasts. Apple fans in particular want to know what new specifications will be on offer with the next iPhone. There are certain developing technologies that Apple is expected to bring in the coming years and one of them is the under-display Face ID feature. Yesterday, a report by the Korea Electronics Industry Media suggested that the iPhone 15 Pro will get the under-display Face ID and that means next year.

But within a day, speculation around the under-display Face ID turned out to be untrue! The DSCC analyst Ross Young, who recently shared important tips regarding the iPhone SE 3 prior to its launch, now says that the under-screen Face ID sensor may not even feature in the next year's flagship iPhone 15 Pro. According to Ross, the technology could land on iPhone 16. "We reconfirmed again that there is not expected to be under panel IR for iPhones until 2024, iPhone 16. Gotta start the development and start submitting samples now though," Ross tweeted.

The Elec report suggested that Apple would use Samsung technology for the iPhone 15 lineup to wrap the Face ID sensor under the screen. It even specifically mentions that the iPhone 15 Pro model will get this new technology from Apple. It also mentions that “the Samsung Display was currently developing a new under panel camera technology for its customer Apple to hide the Face ID under the display in the next iPhone,” 9to5mac reported.

While, on the flip side, the roadmap of the Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) for the upcoming iPhones suggest that the iPhone 15 series will expand the hole punch and pill cutout design, which is expected to feature in iPhone 14 Pro this year,
