Kale’s arc in the Tournament of Power story serves as a blueprint for how Broly can join the Z-Warriors in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. After giving Goku and Vegeta one of the most difficult battles of their lives, the Legendary Super Saiyan was finally taken down at the end of the movie by Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta. But despite his defeat, Broly’s time in the Dragon Ball franchise hasn’t come to an end just yet.
Dragon Ball Super’s take on the classic villain from the non-canon Dragon Ball Z films is one of over a dozen characters confirmed to appear in the anime’s upcoming movie. Picking up a few years after Dragon Ball Super: Broly ended, the sequel will send at least two of the Z-Warriors – Gohan and Piccolo – into combat against the new Red Ribbon Army. As one might expect, many of the anime’s supporting characters, such as Krillin, Yajirobe, and Bulma, will be along for the ride. Arguably the most interesting inclusion thus far is Broly, who was perceived by some as a one-and-done villain. However, it’s since become apparent that the franchise will find a way to continue his story.

Looking at what Dragon Ball has done with other villains, it’s certainly plausible that Broly’s future could involve a heroic turn. Vegeta, Piccolo, Majin Buu, and Android 17 all started out as powerful antagonists, but are now counted as trustworthy allies of Goku and the others. Not only that, but this version of Broly isn’t evil. The problem though, is that Broly’s temper may stand in the way of Goku and Vegeta ever taking him into battle with them.
