Netflix's Cobra Kai season 4 introduces the audience to standout student Kenny Payne (Dallas Dupree Young), and the new karate kid may have a big decision to make about the dojo in season 5. Kenny acts as a new pupil of the Cobra Kai dojo and a mentee to Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan). While Kenny is a favorite Cobra Kai student of Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), there is reason to believe that relationship may not be as stable in Cobra Kai season 5 as it seems in season 4's finale.
Kenny is first introduced as a sweet new kid in town who loves video games and anime. This image quickly deteriorates after his brother Shawn (Okea Eme-Akwari) suggests that he team up with Robby to learn how to defend himself against his middle school bullies, one of whom is Anthony LaRusso (Griffin Santopietro). Despite being mostly underestimated by Kreese (Martin Kove), Terry Silver sees potential in Kenny and takes him under his wing.

Terry Silver's focus on Kenny could mean trouble from the villain in Cobra Kai season 5, as by the end of season 4, Sensei Silver is on the warpath and committing legitimate felonies. This erratic behavior could allow Kenny to see that his talents might be better suited elsewhere. By the end of Cobra Kai season 5, Kenny could surprise everyone and join the Miyagi-Do team. Kenny is introduced as a nice kid, so his kind nature could prevail over Cobra Kai's aggressive nurturing. Anthony also seems to be turning over a new leaf after attempting to apologize to Kenny in the season 4 finale.
