The Xbox Series X/S and PS5 upgrades for Grand Theft Auto 5 are almost here but some fans of the Rockstar Games title are more than a little annoyed at how much the new version is going to cost. Fans have been expressing their anger over the price of the newest version of GTA 5 with some wondering why they're paying anything at all.
Charging money for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrades of existing games has long been a point of strife in the gaming community. People also haven't been happy to pay an extra $10 for the upgraded version of new games. This also isn't the first controversy that's surrounded the upcoming version of GTA 5. While the general public is not a fan of the price point for the upcoming edition, it appears that Rockstar Games is moving straight ahead with its plan.
Grand Theft Auto 5 File Size on PS5 Revealed
Of course, the MSRP for the new generation Grand Theft Auto 5 versions haven't been made official yet, even though it's just a week away from release. The full price for these new editions have leaked however and according to Twitter user Okami Games, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will eventually cost $39.99 and will include Grand Theft Auto Online. Meanwhile, the standalone GTA Online will cost $9.99 on the Xbox and will be free on the PS5 for the first three months. The story mode can also be purchased separately and will also cost around $10 on its own.
The price increase might catch some users by surprise considering that both versions of the full game is currently discounted to $20 but will reportedly go up to its nearly $40 price tag in June. The realization that that game is currently charging $20 despite it just being a new-gen upgrade and that it's going to get even more expensive
