Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence has discussed why he wants to do a continuation of the long-running comedy. Scrubs originally ran until season 9, airing from 2001 to 2010. Since it left screens, Lawrence has continued to build his impressive TV credits. The creator is currently working on season 3 of the Emmy-winning Ted Lasso, and will next focus on Shrinking starring Jason Segel, both for Apple TV+.
The originalScrubs focussed on the staff of the fictional Sacred Heart hospital. Their stories were told from the point of view of J.D. (Zack Braff), whose wild imagination gave the series its unique and surreal sense of humor. However, Scrubs was also well-known for its dramatic elements, which gave emotional weight to an otherwise comedic show. Scrubs received critical acclaim during its first eight seasons before being largely retooled for season 9, changing both its core cast and writers. The changes received very mixed reactions from viewers, and season 9 was ultimately Scrubs' last.

However, as reported Deadline, Lawrence revealed that he wants to do a continuation of Scrubs. Speaking during a panel at the recent ATX TV Festival, some Scrubs stars and Lawrence discussed the idea of a revival. After Donald Faison (Turk) adressed the idea of a possible Scrubs movie, the creator addressed why he thinks a reboot would happen, saying:
"We’re gonna do it because people still care about it and we enjoy spending time with each other."
