Hayley Atwell breaks her silence on her appearance as Captain Carter in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Atwell first joined the MCU in the Captain America's debut film, Captain America: The First Avenger. Atwell first played Captain Carter in a voice role for the animated MCU anthology television series, What If...? The show explored varying alternate timelines within the multiverse if key moments in the main canon occurred differently. Captain Carter was the star of the first episode of the series where the character was given the super soldier serum after a near fatal injury to Steve Rogers. She returned for the final episode of the series as well as a major cameo in the Doctor Strange sequel for her live-action debut as a member of Earth-838's superhero team called the Illuminati.
