Now that the first sneak peek is here for the Twisted Metal series, you may be wondering who is behind that iconic clown mask in the role of Sweet Tooth. The answer is actually a little bit more complicated than you would think.
You see, even though the show is fully live-action, there actually is a little bit of room for voice acting. Much like Darth Vader in the original Star Wars, it is a case of one actor bringing the voice and another bringing the physicality to the role while remaining anonymous under a mask in each scene.
In this case, the voice of Sweet Tooth will be brought to life by none other than The Lego Batman himself, Will Arnett. But a much more muscle-bound figure is the person who you will actually see in each scene wearing the clown mask. That is because the physicality part of the role is fulfilled by the professional wrestler known as Samoa Joe.
As for the sneak peek itself, that has arguably left a little more to be desired. Don’t get me wrong, Sweet Tooth definitely looks the part. But the entire clip took place in a casino with two individuals engaging in a fistfight instead of being in a car battle. There’s a lot more that we need to see of this show before we can determine its quality, that’s for sure.
If you want to see how Arnett and Samoa Joe bring Sweet Tooth to life on the small screen, check out Twisted Metal on the streaming service Peacock on July 27.
