The heavily anticipated release of Andor's very first trailer has finally given Star Wars fans a look at the upcoming Rogue One prequel, including the character being played by Stellan Skarsgard. Swedish screen legend Stellan Skarsgard was first announced for the ambitious Disney+ series Andor in 2020, but as is tradition for the studio, LucasFilm has kept virtually every aspect of the project quietly under wraps during production, with Andor's new trailer providing key information on what to expect from the rise of the Rebellion.
Skarsgard has been acting for more than five decades, but at 70 years old the Emmy-nominated star shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. In fact, since 2011 he has reinvented his career for a whole new generation of movie-goers with the role of Dr. Erik Selvig in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Thor franchise, in addition to appearances in The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. More recently, Skarsgard played Baron Harkonnenin Denis Villeneuve's Dune, and will return for Dune: Part Two in 2023.

Given the massive inspiration that Frank Herbert's original Dune novels played in George Lucas' creation of the Star Wars universe, it's fitting that Stellan Skarsgard will finally make the jump to a galaxy far, far away with his upcoming role in Andor.
