The upcoming series Andor, a spin-off of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is going to be a lot larger than expected. During a panel at Star Wars Celebration, the Lucasfilm Showcase, it was revealed that the series will be 24 episodes long, and the first teaser trailer premiered.
Prepare for a beast of a series, while it's unknown at the time of this writing if the show will contain half-hour or hour-long episodes, the series will take place five years before the events of Rogue One. 12 episodes take place over the course of one year. The final 12 will take place over four years, leading to the events of Rogue One. Check out the teaser below to get your first look at the show.
This November, production will begin on the final 12 episodes of the story of Andor, which stars Diego Luna, who returns to the role he first played in 2016's Rogue One. According to Luna at the Celebration panel, the Andor we meet at the beginning of this series is selfish, and the journey he goes on will change him into the familiar Andor from Rogue One.
Genevieve O'Reilly also returns to the Star Wars universe, once again taking on the role of Mon Mothma. She said on the panel it was a gift to return to the role.
Tony Gilroy serves as creator and showrunner, with Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlbery, Luna, and Michelle Rejwan as executive producers. The series will also star Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller.
Andor will arrive on August 31 with a two-episode debut on Disney+.
