Who catches Mjolnir in Thor: Love and Thunder’s trailer? Despite Mjolnir’s destruction by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, not only is it returning in Love and Thunder — and fully formed as well, not in pieces as it was previously seen — but it’s being wielded by someone other than Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder continues Thor’s journey to find himself that was started in Avengers: Endgame, and that’s led him to wanting to retire from being a hero. Unfortunately, his retirement is interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks to kill all the gods in the universe. Thor has to assemble a team to help him defeat Gorr, and that team includes the woman in the trailer who surprisingly wields a reformed Mjolnir.

The woman wielding Mjolnir in Thor: Love and Thunder’s trailer is none other than Jane Foster. Not much about her role in the film has been revealed, but based on various reports and interviews over the years, Jane will have a similar story in Love and Thunder that she did in the comics, where she begins wielding Mjolnir as Mighty Thor after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Ironically, becoming Mighty Thor only worsened Jane’s health as the transformation purged the chemotherapy from her body; it’s unknown if this part of her story will be maintained in the movie, but since that was a crucial element to her story, it’s likely to be included.
As for how Jane is wielding Mjolnir following its destruction in Thor: Ragnarok, that has yet to be explained, but there are a variety of ways for how she obtained it.
