Warner Bros. has teased plans to release more games based on in its Wizarding World franchise following Hogwarts Legacy’s success.
In an interview with Variety, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad said the Harry Potter RPG sold over 22 million copies between its release in February 2023 and the end of the calendar year.
That made it “the best-selling game of the year in the entire industry worldwide”, he claimed.
Warner plans to follow-up on its success with Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, which was revealed last April, and “a series of other things” that are currently unannounced and “will let the fans be part of this world and stories and characters in deeper and deeper ways”, Haddad said.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, which is currently in beta, is billed as “a fast-paced, competitive multiplayer game featuring the world’s most iconic magical sport”. It’s coming to PC and consoles, but a release date has yet to be confirmed.
“We don’t have any particular announcements on exactly how and when [the Quidditch game] is going to come to the market, but we are working to get it designed in a way just to delight fans,” Haddad said.
Footage of the game which leaked last summer seemingly confirmed that players will be able to create their own character, or choose to play as characters including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy and Cho Chang.
A teaser for a new Lego Harry Potter game also reportedly leaked last year.
