Warner Bros. is reportedly searching for a Kevin Feige type figure to oversee DC movies and TV shows. Feige is Marvel Studios President, spearheading the ultra successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kicking off with the original Iron Man back in 2008, the MCU revolutionized blockbuster entertainment with the shared universe concept and is still going strong 14 years later. The franchise is currently in its Phase 4, with a full slate of upcoming films and TV series. Collectively, the MCU has grossed more than $25 billion at the worldwide box office.
In the wake of the MCU's critical acclaim and box office records, other studios looked to develop their own shared universes. Unsurprisingly, Warner Bros. moved forward with the DC Extended Universe, using Zack Snyder's Man of Steel as a jumping off point. However, the polarizing response to that film, Batman v Superman, and the Justice League theatrical cut left DC movies in a state of flux and the initial vision for the DCEU was abandoned. Now, with the Discovery/WarnerMedia merger finalized, the studio is looking to get the DC property on track once again.

Per Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav wants to overhaul the company's approach to the DC library. Part of this involved looking for a «creative and strategic czar» akin to Feige. Zaslav reportedly looked at people for the position prior to the merger, including former 20th Century Studios and Paramount executive Emma Watts. The outlet goes on to note Zaslav appears to be prioritizing finding someone who can «keep all the different factions at DC working more harmoniously» as opposed to a «creative guru.»
