Warframe has been updating consistently since its launch in 2013, but Digital Extreme’s next set of planned updates may be some of the most ambitious yet. According to this year’s TennoCon, the yearly convention celebrating Warframe (and now the sister project Soulframe), we’re set to get three more updates in 2024.
The first of these updates, Lotus Eaters, will set the stage for the coming overarching narrative which will culminate in the wildly ambitious multiversal Warframe 99.
Lotus Eaters will feature a short quest that bridges the last Whispers in the Walls story about long-time antagonist the Man in the Wall with the upcoming Warframe 99. The update will also add Sevagoth Prime; Primes are more powerful variations on original Warframes, and are coveted for their better stats and cool cosmetics.
A second, unnamed update is planned to come after Lotus Eaters. This update is even more mysterious, and we won’t know much more about it until Digital Extremes’ debut presentation at Tokyo Game Show. This update will include a Caliban rework for one of the game’s less popular Warframes, and all players will receive Caliban for free.
Finally, in winter 2024, we can expect the visually innovative Warframe 99. This alt-Earth story takes place in a version of 1999 that’s very clearly inspired by anime and the Metal Gear franchise. Six Protoframes, humans who have been fused with Warframe suits, make up a syndicate called the Hex. The player will be able to use an AIM-style chat client to learn more about each Protoframe, and even romance them for a New Year’s kiss.
