Already available on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, thanks to this new content the game now provides an opportunity to help the famous Marie Curie repair her medical equipment, while remaining in charge of a WW1 field hospital.
Placing the emphasis on narration, War Hospital’s X-Ray DLC offers players an additional chapter equivalent to 5 hours’ gameplay, featuring another aspect of running the field hospital. In the story dreamt up by the Polish studio Brave Lamb, they must help Maria Skłodowska (Marie Curie) procure the resources she needs to repair her “Petite Curie”, one of the mobile surgical units that she invented. She instigated widespread use of X-raying techniques, by taking her equipment right out to the battlefields.
“We decided to include Maria Skłodowska in the game’s plot, since it reflects the essence of War Hospital, which is all about saving human lives. We are also proud to be able to include a Polish accent in our game. During World War One, our country was not even on the map, so at the time it unfortunately could not enjoy the prestige associated with this phenomenon,” noted Michał Dziwniel, Director of Brave Lamb studio.

Halfway between the real-time strategy and survival genres, War Hospital is a management game unique in its kind, where the player must make tough moral choices as they progress. The gameplay involves managing a WW1 field hospital, but also the treatment and recovery of soldiers injured in battle. Playing as Major Henry Wells, they will be responsible for running a British field hospital in a fictitious town in Northern France. Playable in solo mode only, War Hospital and its Marie Curie DLC have been out since 11 January 2024 on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
