At the moment, the gaming industry is in the midst of a boom that seeks to bring older games kicking and screaming into the modern era. With a new take on Resident Evil 4 due out soon, as well as the Dead Space remake coming in January, there is evidently a lot of demand, at least from the developer/publisher side, to do reimaginings of already beloved titles. However, sometimes it's worth turning the clock back a few years, as this Resident Evil 5 video shows.
As spotted by DSO Gaming, the YouTube channel Rustic Games BR has uploaded a video showing what the fifth installment in the long-running survival horror series would look like if it had been made in the mid to late 90s. The clip shows Resident Evil 5 as a classic RE entry, complete with 32-bit PSX-style graphics, tank controls, fixed camera angles, and the old inventory system with those iconic sounds. While it absolutely screams nostalgia, it doesn't appear to represent an actual fan demake that's in the works and is more than likely just an experiment.

The channel is known for putting out video showcases of this ilk. For example, earlier this year, Rustic uploaded a video showing what a demake of Resident Evil 4 could look like. Much like the RE5 footage, this one imagines the celebrated fourth game as if it had been released on the original PlayStation console. For those who remember the «good old days» of survival horror, these videos are an interesting insight into going against the current remake trend and making a more modern release appear to be from a bygone era.
