About half of V Rising's late game will be trying to get ahold of dark silver Ingots. It's one of the few items that just does not seem to drop in the wild, regardless of where gamers are farming. That means that pro-level players aren't going to be able to kill their way to the top of the tech tree (unless they're on a PvP server, taking down players ahead of them).

Given its rareness, it's a tough break that many endgame upgrades in V Rising require using dark silver ingots. The process is slow and absolutely cannot be begun by new players. But veterans who are ready will want to begin collecting the ingredients to make this precious resource immediately.
To kick off the process, gamers will need to wipe out Octavian the Militia Captain. Fewer bosses represent more critical turning points. Not only does taking out Octavian allow players to make dark silver, but it also allows them to make the anvil, dark silver weapons, and Dawnthorne Regalia, the latter two of which become the best gear in the game (after another upgrade).

He can be found in the Bastion of Dunley, inside the large barricade at the northernmost point. It's highly recommended to have every upgrade before dark silver upgrades when facing him, he's no slouch in combat. If playing with friends, enlist their help to split his focus.
Dark silver is made from combining silver with scourgestones at a furnace. The quantities of all of these will vary from server to server (and the numbers will change yet again based on castle flooring and rooms), but know that farming scourgestone requires mass amounts of grave dust, glass (from quartz), and whetstones.
