Evolving one Pokemon from its original, cute state to give it better combat stats and a stronger appearance is one of the ways a trainer gears themselves up for the challenges of becoming the champion in any mainline Pokemon title. Even the most well-known Pokemon cannot stay in its yellow, mouse-like state forever, and with the addition of a Thunder Stone Pikachu will transform into a Raichu. However, not all Pokemon in the franchise are destined for evolution, with some being completely unable to evolve.
While some Pokemon don't necessarily need evolutions, such as the legendaries that can be found in each game, fans believe that there are plenty of Pokemon without evolutions that could benefit from them in upcoming Pokemon games. With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on the way, some think that old Pokemon could get new regional forms or maybe some updated evolutions. In particular, some Pokemon fans are looking at the «Pikachu clones» in the series and hoping that there will be some evolutions for them.

Every Pokemon generation since the first has included some sort of Pikachu clone, which is a Pokemon seen by the fans as being intended to either look like or play a similar role to Pikachu in the games. However, with the exception of Marill, who gets an evolution in Azumarill, none of the Pikachu lookalikes have their own Raichu forms.
