VR MMORPG Ilysia has a new devblog on what has been going on sincethe end of Alpha 2, the game development process, and studio changes. Team 21 also announced a special stream for today to show off graphical and other updates, with a special announcement to come.
It has been a while since the Ilysia team has been able to share blogs and updates, and now we know some of why that happened. They had to rebuild the entire backend in order to make critical technical upgrades. In order to make things more secure, and for better long-term operation, they made some important decisions. First off, “Ilysia has been updated from Client-Authoritative architecture to a Server-Authoritative Server architecture. While we will keep the details under wraps, this required a complete and total rebuild of the entire back end of Ilysia”. In order to make things work, they also had to rewrite some aspects on the front end too. They estimate that now, “less than 1% of the code base from Alpha exists as it did last year”.
So, now, the team is moving ahead with their completely rewritten game, along with previously-promised changes and upgrades to the weather systems, graphics, combat, and AI. The new graphical updates are live, and they are moving forward with these more polished graphics towards the first beta.
They’ve announced several new team members are on board now, which makes sense with all of these overhauls and changes to get things back on track.
There’s a special stream today, starting at 2 PM Eastern over at the Team 21 YouTube channel. They promise there will be a special announcement as part of the stream, which will also serve to show off everything new in the game, including the new graphics, from player characters to NPCs
