Ukrainian developer GSC Game World has seemingly quietly updated some STALKER 2 screenshots, showing more vibrant environments.
Last year, the developer released a set of four screenshots for the upcoming shooter, and as spotted by Reddit user 'jacob1342', these screenshots have now been updated on the Epic Games Store. Interestingly enough, these updated screenshots show a slightly updated HUD as well as more vibrant colors. Last year's screenshots were already quite impressive, but these new ones are looking even better. We've included last year's STALKER 2 screenshots and new updated ones (through the Epic Games Store) below.
GSC Game World updating the screenshots could very well mean that we'll be getting news about the title rather soon. With Microsoft's Xbox Showcase scheduled for later this week, the game could very well make an appearance there. STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl is currently slated for a release in the first quarter of this year. As such, a release date will possibly follow soon.
Back in August of last year, STALKER 2 was delayed to early 2024, and more recently, the studio behind the game said that it's quite hard to say how long polishing of the game will take. "The final polishing of the game will take some time", the developer said in an interview late last year. "We want to launch our game at the highest level as soon as possible. However, due to the size and complexity of the open world, there are thousands of details that may go wrong. We are seizing the time to fix it. The product is polished. There's never enough time for a game developer, and it's hard to say how close we are to truly "finishing" a game."
STALKER 2 is slated for a release on Xbox and PC between January and March 2024. The game will be available through Game Pass from day one. Due to a timed exclusivity deal of three months, it's likely that the shooter will also come to PS5 later on.
