UK retailers are currently offering some of the best PlayStation 5 deals to date.
The new PS5 and EA Sports FC 24 console bundle, which was released alongside EA’s football game in late September, has a recommended retail price of £539.99, according to Sony.
But the platform holder has launched it with a ‘discounted’ price of £429.99 in what it’s calling a “special introductory” offer valid until October 12.
Other retailers are offering even better deals. Amazon and Argos have the same bundle available for £409.99, with the latter even throwing in a copy of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion.
These aren’t the cheapest PS5 prices we’ve seen, but they’re highly competitive and come with what’s expected to be one of this year’s best-selling games.
Sony has been heavily discounting PS5 across Europe over the past couple of months in limited time promotions that have seen the price of the console fall to as low as £399, although at the time it wasn’t bundled with a high-profile new release like EA Sports FC 24.
The aggressive promotional activity has fueled speculation that Sony is attempting to clear stock ahead of unconfirmed plans to launch a new PS5 with a detachable disc drive.
In legal documents published in July, Microsoft said it expects Sony to launch a new PS5 console this year. The new model will cost the same as the existing PS5 Digital Edition console, which is $100 / £90 cheaper than the standard PS5, it suggested.
“PlayStation likewise sells a less expensive Digital Edition for $399.99, and is expected to release a PlayStation 5 Slim later this year at the same reduced price point,” Microsoft said.
