It has been literal years since we last saw anything of Ubisoft’s long, long, long-awaited adventure title Beyond Good and Evil 2. In fact, the sequel to the 2003 action-adventure has gone so dark, that fans are already wondering whether the title is heading for an extended development of Dead Island 2 proportions.
However, it seems that the cyberpunkian project is both far from canned and equally far from completion. A new job listing from Ubisoft Barcelona sees the developer reaching out for a “Senior Gameplay Animator to jump on board with Jade and company, with the listing suggesting that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will be one of Ubisoft’s “most ambitious games to date.”
It is believed that no less than five of Ubisoft’s studios are currently working on the project, which has only seen a single cinematic trailer, released way back at E3 2018. While franchise creator Michel Ancel has now left the industry entirely, it seems that production on the purgatory follow-up is progressing. It’s difficult to deny that, at this rate, fans may be better off simply holding off on their anticipation until Ubisoft finally has any in-game footage to share.
A Beyond Good and Evil cinematic adaptation is also currently in pre-production for the video-streaming service, Netflix. At this rate, we might be more likely to see the movie premiere before the game’s sequel comes close to hitting the shelves.
