During Geeked Week, One Piece fans got their very first look at the upcoming live-action series. In a behind-the-scenes video, you can see just how far production has come in South Africa on the highly-anticipated series.
There's a very cool time lapse video showing the construction of Baratie Bar, and you can see the attention to detail that goes into putting it together. The video also has a few shots of the docks as well, and it looks like it was ripped straight from the manga and anime. Check it out for yourself.
The live-action One Piece series stars Iñaki Godoy as the wannabe pirate Monkey D. Luffy, Peter Gadiot as Shanks, Emily Rudd as Nami, and Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro. Steve Madea (Lost) and Matt Owens (Luke Cage) will serve as showrunners.
One Piece is based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda. First published in 1997, there are over 100 volumes of the manga, and as for the manga, it's had over 1000 episodes of the show air. It follows Luffy--a rubbery pirate--who wants to find the legendary One Piece, a mythical treasure that will make him the King of the Pirates. So he sails the seas with his Straw Hat Pirates and comes across a variety of other colorful pirates.
Netflix's Geeked Week has a variety of other announcements, including a first look at Tim Burton's upcoming TV series Wednesday, a first look at Mike Flanagan's new series, and a trailer for Season 3 of Locke and Key.
