Streaming platform Twitch has banned the promotion of and sponsorship from CS:GO skin gambling.
As spotted by Dextero, the firm has changed its Community Guidelines page to reflect this new policy. In the “Is sponsorship of skins gambling, such as for CS:GO skins, allowed on Twitch?” section, it reads: “No, promotion or sponsorship of skins gambling is prohibited under our policy.”
The proliferation of CS:GO skins gambling in the streaming and broader influencer 'sector' has been an issue for years. This most recent change in policy appears to come in the wake of a video released by Counter-Strike YouTuber Houngoungagne called The Dark Reality Behind CSGO. This looked at how skin gambling sites have spread and how they are promoted by popular streamers on Twitch.
When the video was being made, Twitch's policy was that streamers couldn't share links or codes to "sites that contain slots, roulette or dice games".
