Ah, Quartz If there is one gameplay mechanic in Trails from Zero that causes some players to scratch their heads in frustration and surrender to "just putting whatever, wherever, and hoping for the best" it's got to be Quartz. There are two fine ways to define Quartz to Trails from Zero newcomers. The first relies entirely upon whether you have played a very specific game before. The second is more in-depth, and hinges upon the notion that you have not. Let's get that first one out of the way: if you have ever played either Final Fantasy 7 or any of its spin-offs, Trails' Quartz is basically just... Materia, but more complicated.
Now, for the real explanation. Quartz comes in a wide variety of forms, each of which have individual names to denote their usage. You equip Quartz via the main menu. Every type of Quartz comes in one of seven colors. These colors are Blue, Red, Green, Orange, Black, Gold, and Grey. Each color corresponds with an element.
