The regular hosts of the 3rd Hour of TODAYon NBC reacted to a recent episode of Family Guy that referred to them as "nonsense people." Seth MacFarlane's widely-acclaimed animated series is currently airing season 20. Throughout the 300+ episodes of Family Guy, the show hasn't shied away from making jokes that reference (and often poke fun at) hot topics, from politics to pop culture. It's part of the show's success — to take inspiration from notable subjects by finding humor through a distinctly Family Guy lens.
Family Guy centers around the unconventional Griffin family. While they are seemingly normal people from the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island on the surface, viewers quickly learn they're not even close. Since the show's premiere in 1999, it has gone on to win several Primetime Emmy Awards, establish a successful franchise, and continue to find creative humor in new episodes that always remain culturally relevant.

In a recent episode of the TODAY show's 3rd hour, the hosts were celebrating National Fun at Work Day. The foursome of Al Roker, Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer could think of no better way to commemorate the holiday than by showing a recent Family Guy clip that referenced their talk show. But as mentioned by Dreyer, it wasn't the most flattering homage. In the episode, Peter Griffin refers to the 3rd Hour hosts as "nonsense people," as opposed to other TODAY hosts Savannah Gutherie and Hoda Kotb.
