Conan O'Brien recently teased new details regarding his upcoming HBO Max show. Many Conan fans were disappointed to hear of O'Brien's departure from late night television in June 2021. However, O'Brien did previously announce that he will be doing a new show on HBO Max outside of the realm of late night television.
Now, in a recent episode of his podcast, Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend, which was uploaded to his Team Coco YouTube channel, O'Brien gave an update regarding what the HBO Max show will entail. He noted that the show will not be nightly, and that he wants it to focus on remote segments in which he interacts with real people. An example of this is his Conan Without Borders segments, which can be viewed as a collection on HBO Max. O'Brien also mentioned that he's been a fan of remote segments since his beginnings in late night at NBC, and that this type of comedy is very meaningful to him. «What I’d like to focus on is the stuff that I think I’m particularly useful at or adept at. I want to double down on that… remotes and when I’m with real people in real situations, that’s exactly the kind of stuff I’m thinking about and want to do. When I travel, people say they just saw the one where I went to Korean spa and they saw my whole body and now can’t unsee it. It’s really nice… I would like to add more foolishness to that mountain.»
