Pets and companions have been a mainstay in the Borderlands series, in one form or another. It grew from sending out Mordecai’s Bloodwing to full-blown, extensive class features in Borderlands 3, such as Moze’s Iron Bear, Zane’s Drone, and FL4K’s pets. With Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Gearbox went all-in too.
Three of the six available classes in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands have companions of some sort, and if players dual-class into two of them, they can run around with two of them. These include the Spore Warden’s Mushroom companion, the Clawbringer’s Wyvern companion, and the Graveborn’s Demi-Lich. It’s not surprising, then, to see one of the best elements of Borderlands 3’s companions make its way over to Wonderlands.

It’s easy to look over, but the Mushroom, Wyvern, and Demi-Lich’s appearance changes to match the player’s created character. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ character creator allows players to change the color, outfit, and patterns of their armor, and this will also impact those very same elements in the companion. It’s a small feature, but it goes to show the connection between the character and companion, a nice touch that helps define the classes and characters.
It should be noted that there is a bug inTiny Tina’s Wonderlands that changes the appearance of the companion when players go through a loading screen. This could explain why some may not realize this right away, but hopefully, it’s something that is fixed rather soon. It helps bring the overall character and roleplaying to life, which is vital in any RPG.
