A Pokémon fan has gone the extra mile in their devotion to the ever-popular franchise, crafting their very own anime episode that is nothing short of amazing. The three-minute clip, uploaded by Reddit user u/PokemonMaster_99, introduces young Pokémon trainer Eve and her Piplup, before taking audiences on a Magikarp-catching odyssey complete with action sequences and a stellar soundtrack.
“Made my own Pokémon anime,” the user captioned the episode. “Took me SO long, but it’s [here].” After a montage of attempts to capture Magikarp, Eve eventually catches the feeble orange fish (much to Piplup’s amusement) before the credits begin to roll. The episode was created by Andjela Jokovic, with Eve voiced by Faux Snyder and narrated by Mikah Smith. The credits are soundtracked by Jason Paige’s timeless Pokémon Theme song.
Like any cinematic epic, the anime episode even features a post-credits scene, during which a sleeping Eve is surveilled by sinister-sounding characters Wang and Vera. The episode has amassed over 25,000 Reddit upvotes, with users flocking to the thread to share their praise. “I completely forgot I wasn’t watching the original,” one fan wrote. “This is SO spectacular.”
Other users commended the fan creation for recalling the “nostalgia” of season one of the Pokémon television series, as well as the use of sound effects and music. “The nostalgia hit me like a Mack truck,” one fan added. “This made me want to buy Pokémon games more than anything else intentionally advertising their products.” So heavy was the nostalgia that some Pokémon viewers vowed to rewatch the Mewtwo film, and called for the creator to share behind-the-scenes videos of the episode’s production.
The fanime episode comes weeks after the premiere
