If all you’ve ever done is play the games, it’s easy to forget that Wailord is supposed to be the size of a whale. Curiously, it doesn’t weigh the same as a whale at just 877 pounds (roughly 400 kg), and at around 50 feet long (or 15 meters), that actually makes Wailord lighter than air. A typo in the original Ruby & Sapphire games made Wailord much lighter than an actual whale (and is in fact 150 pounds lighter than Snorlax) and the typo stuck around as Pokemon canon.
Rather than fix Wailord's overall length to be something that might make sense, the Pokedex retained its 50-foot measurement and took creative liberties to ensure Wailord still fit on your screen in all its appearances throughout the Pokemon series. You get a better sense of Wailord's size in the anime, as well as in Pokemon Snap and Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor DLC.

And soon there will be one more way to appreciate Wailord's bigness. In preparation for Pokemon Day, the Pokemon Company has revealed an enormous Wailord plush that's basically the size of a person.
The Jumbo-Size Wailord Plush is actually one-tenth the size of a "real" Wailord, coming in at 57.75 inches (or about 1.5 meters). It's also pretty thick, and although it's stuffed with fluff, it's probably still pretty heavy too. It's like a Wailord-sized beanbag or a body pillow. This big Wailord plush is also on the expensive side at $420. But you're paying for quantity here.
You can pre-order this huge Wailord on the official Pokemon Center website. Note that all pre-orders must be in before March 13, with shipping set for sometime in early November.
