When reports emerged that plans of a combined remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 had been shelved, most feared that the beloved skateboarding franchise had once again been shelved by Activision, though it’s now looking like things might not be so dire after all.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Tony Hawk himself recently took to Instagram with a commemorative post about the same. At the end of the caption accompanying his post, Hawk wrote, “I’m not supposed to tease anything else about the future of the series; but there will be a future.”
This isn’t the first time Hawk has teased the skateboarding series’ future of late. As recently as earlier this month, he said that he was “talking to Activision again” and that they were “working on something” that “the fans will truly appreciate”. Read more on that through here.
As per past reports, a remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 was in development at Vicarious Visions, the studio that developed 2020’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, though the project was shelved after the studio merged with Blizzard Entertainment.
