Over the course of the last ten years, those core characters have gone through endless changes and introduced hundreds of variants, especially in merchandise.
While the original gang has always been the most well-known, more recent additions to the series have become even more beloved. The cast of – Glamrock Freddy, Roxanne Wolf, Glamrock Chica, and Montgomery Gator – became instantly iconic upon release due to their sleek character design and engaging personalities. The design of the new animatronics is where shines. Its sleek 1980s aesthetic hits the player with rock music, big hair, and neon colors. While this new look already makes the new characters distinct, the game also introduces something new to the animatronics: defined personalities. Past games tended to not reveal much personality in their animatronics, besides their burning desire to murder security guards and the general evilness of Springtrap and Circus Baby.
