A new report claims that Netflix is rumored to be eyeing The Witcher: Blood Origin's release date for October, nearly a year after season 2. Developed by Declan de Barra, the fantasy series is set 1200 years before the events of the Henry Cavill-led hit and before the infamous Conjunction of the Spheres. This cataclysmic event saw multiple universes merge into one, resulting in the birth of chaos magic and a variety of unnatural creatures inhabiting the world with humans. The Witcher: Blood Origin will explore the events leading up to the Conjunction, as well as the creation of the first Witcher and the Elven civilization in their prosperous years before they were wiped out by humanity.
Michelle Yeoh is leading the cast of The Witcher: Blood Origin alongside Sophia Brown, Laurence O'Fuarain, Lenny Henry, Mirren Mack, Nathaniel Curtis, Dylan Moran, Jacob Collins-Levy, and Francesca Mills. Development on the spinoff was announced in mid-2020 as Netflix looked to build on the success of its mainline Witcher series with a shared universe of titles that also included the well-received animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf exploring Vesemir's origin story. A few months after the conclusion of The Witcher season 2's premiere, audiences may now know when they can expect to see the next installment in the franchise.
