The long-awaited sequel to James Cameron's Avatar finally has a title, revealed in a new trailer shown by producer Jon Landau. Officially titled Avatar: The Way of Water, we won't actually get to see the trailer until next month, when it will be revealed during screenings of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness which is set to release on May 4. Time for the good news though, as a release date for the movie was also announced alongside the trailer.
Avatar: The Way of Water will hit cinemas pretty much everywhere on December 14 (thanks Deadline), although North America will have to wait a couple of days longer until December 16. It was also announced that Disney will also be re-releasing the original Avatar on September 23, complete with remastered audio and video, just in case you're one of the few people who haven't seen it yet.

Both Cameron and Landau shared quite a bit about the film during the announcement, including plans to "create a connected saga" between all four of the next Avatar movies. We also got a very brief plot synopsis, with the movie following the original protagonist Jake Sully as he lives on his new home planet of Pandora. A familiar threat returns to the planet and Jake with the Nav'i race must fend them off and protect their home.
Some of the movie's cast was also revealed, with notable actors such as Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Oona Chaplin, and Jermaine Clement all included in the production.
