The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt modding scene is about to change forever, thanks to the release of the REDKit mod editor later this month.
Today, CD Projekt Red confirmed that the extensive mod editor based on the game's engine will be released for free on PC on May 21st, 2024. Those who cannot wait for the mod editor's official release can still sign up for the playtest on Steam.
As The Witcher 3 REDkit provides users with the same tools used by the developers to shape the vanilla game, it will be very interesting to see what modders will come up with. There's still an active modding community for the third entry in the series starring Geralt of Rivia, so it may not take too long to see some new mods created using the game's official mod editor.
The Witcher 3 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. You can learn more about the next-gen update released a while back on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S by going here.
The free The Witcher 3 Next-Gen update is finally here, at last, featuring a host of quality-of-life and gameplay improvements in addition to all the technical enhancements. On PC, players can enjoy a brand new Ultra+ graphics preset. Then, on top of that, they can enable four ray traced effects: global illumination, ambient occlusion, shadows and reflections, with the latter two unavailable on consoles.
