In The Witcher 3's An Eye For An Eye quest, you get to spend some time with your favorite Temerian pals in Vernon Roche and Ves. They aren't around too much in the third game, especially compared to the previous instalment. Therefore, it's nice to have a quest about them. However, during the ordeal, things aren't too rosy between the commander and his second-in-command.

Ves has ignored her CO and conducted an operation on her own. Roche needs your help in finding and stopping her. It's not the longest quest, but it's important because an ally's life is at risk. So here's how to make sure all of your friends survive the ordeal.
To begin the quest, you need to speak with Vernon Roche. He will be slightly northeast of Oxenfurt at the Temerian Partisan Hideout.
When you find him, ask about his problem. He explains that Ves has taken some troops to Mulbrydale to attack some Nilfgaardian soldiers. This is a problem because Roche didn't give her permission to leave. She disobeyed his order because she wanted to help the common folk that the Nilfgaardians were targeting.
He needs your help to track her down. Agree to lend a hand and then set off for the Hanged Man's Tree in the middle of Velen.

Shortly after speaking with Roche at the Hanged Man's Tree, Ves and her team will attack the Nilfgaardians at Mulbrydale. From the tree, head a little to the southwest to find where the skirmish is taking place.
At this point, a health bar for Ves will appear on the screen. If it completely depletes, she will die, and the quest will fail permanently. As a result, you'll be unable to acquire Roche's assistance
